10/2006 - His Majesty King Harald V of Norway acknowledges importance of research collaboration between CMRC and Nansen Centre .

On the recent Royal visit to Ireland, their majesties Queen Sonja and King Harald V of Norway launched the conference Maritime Governance – Our Legacy.  In his opening speech, his Majesty acknowledged the importance of research collaboration between CMRC and Nansen Centre, Bergen. Researchers in the CMRC and the Nansen Centre have been collaborating on a number of research initiatives over the last 10 years. They are currently working together on the EU FP6 InterRisk project, aimed at the provision of data related to the management of Harmful Algal Blooms and Oil Spill scenarios.

The conference, held in the National Maritime College of Ireland, was attended by Minister Noel Dempsey. Valerie Cummins, Manager of the CMRC presented a paper to the invited delegates on the Sustainable Development of Irish and Norwegian Coastal Zones.
